Information was provided by the manufacturer it is a part of a smoking service intended to hold matches, rare piece.
There was only one manufacturer in Longwy during that period.
Purchased by a family memeber that was in France during WW2. Additional marks no doubt provide additional information.
Very good condition considering the age. There is one flake underneath on the lid, which does not detract from the beauty of the piece (see attached photos)
